They are also able to control and manage their own learning activities. Metacognitive ability is the ability of students in the process of behaviour (activity) and thinking (mental processes) to improve the learning process along with the memory. Metacognitive ability is considered as a crucial concept in cognitive theory. Cognitive theory puts an emphasis on the importance of the learning process. This theory delineates that learning is an internal process that covers several aspects i.e. memory, information processing, emotions, and other psychological aspects. Therefore, it can be inferred that metacognitive ability will enable students to control the learning process. Metacognitive ability covers several phases i.e. planning stage, choosing a proper strategy which in line with the problem occurs, observing and conducting a correction at the same time during the process of understanding the concept, analysing the effectiveness of the chosen strategy-solving.
