SISTEM AMONG KI HADJAR DEWANTARA DALAM PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER DI SEKOLAH DASAR

Abstract

The world of education these days is in the spotlight by various circles, because the main function of education to form smart people of noble character is considered less serious especially in terms of educating the character of the younger generation. This condition occurs because the national education system has abandoned the conception of BBC prioritizing concepts of education from western countries that are not in accordance with Indonesian cultures. While Indonesia actually has an outstanding educational figure along with his concepts or thoughts, and he is Ki Hadjar Dewantara.. Many of his concepts or thoughts deal with education and culture,  and one of them is the Among method, or the teaching method based on Asah, Asih and Asuh principles that focus on the nature and independence, whereas  other Dewantara’s mostly implemented methods include Tutwuri Handayani (to follow from behind and give impacts) and Three Centers of Education namely family, school and society. The aim of implementing the Among system is to instill the character education in primary schools through good habits, examples and role models in learning.
