IMPLEMENTASI KARAKTER ISLAM DALAM PENDIDIKAN DI ERA GLOBALISASI
Abstract
Along with the serious decline of human moral quality nowadays, particularly among students, the implementation of character education is a crucial thing to realize. The character education is a system of realizing character values to entire school environment. It covers the components of knowledge, awareness or willingness, and an action to initiate those values to God, ourselves, fellowship, environment, and nationality. Hence, these components should be realized as an effort to become a perfect person (insan kamil). Islamic character, according to Holy Koran and Al-Hadiths, is a character which is merely reflected by Prophet Muhammad SAW, which is well-known as a great morality: wainnaka la’ala khuluqin azim (as cited from Holy Koran Surah Al-Qalam: 4). Several flawless characters are genuinely demonstrated by Prophet Muhammad SAW i.e. maintaining trustworthiness, applying an effective socialization and communication among human beings according to their dignity, inviting and helping others for the sake of kindness, evading conflicts and arguments, comprehending fundamental values and norms, upholding the balance of the ecosystem, and considering every single issue together in a very wise way. The globalization era requires people to readily deal with varied problems, rivalries and challenges. The implementation of Islamic character, through education, is a precious thing to inherit to the students. It can be implemented through several ways i.e. nurturing students’ emotional awareness to religion, creating an interesting environment to do good things, cultivating spirit and breaking the limit as an effort to face reality through Islamic values, developing a good culture to pose noble characters, and initiating holistic learning model which is in line with Islamic values.
