PENANAMAN PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER MELALUI PEMBELAJARAN ETNOMATEMATIKA
Abstract
Science and technology along with the advance of the era has been growing rapidly. In this advanced era one of the effects of the advance of science and technology is the deterioration of character value. One of the attempts to overcome the deterioration of character value is by modifying curriculum and inserting character education in learning. The aims of curriculum modifications are to adjust learning with the recent development and to insert character values so that students would become a generation who have characters and also can preserve culture as foundation of national character. The character values which are developed such as love of homeland and spirit of nationalism. The character values of loving the homeland and spirit of nationalism can be done through the learning of ethnomathematics. ethnomathematics is one of the culture based learning approaches. ethnomathematics integrates or connects local wisdom with mathematics. Through ethnomathematics, concepts of mathematics are studied in cultural practice. Thus the learning of ethnomathematics by inserting local cultural wisdom into mathematic learning, students are able to understand more about mathematics concepts contextually and understand more about how the culture around the students connected to mathematics, and for the teachers through the learning of ethnomathematics they can embed the noble value of national culture so it will have impact on character education.
