Abstract

Decision making is something that people do, including students. A teacher can improve students' ability to make decisions by group discussions. Decision making on socio-scientific issues (SSI) can improve the literacy science and complex thinking skills of students. Some competencies required by students at SSI is multiperspective reasoning, experience, and the use of trade-offs. In making the decision, the student should be able to identify options and criteria that are relevant to the solution of the problem presented, gathering information from various aspects that are relevant to the case and generate options that allow, then comparing several options that have been set by them to be considered in taking decision. Decision making strategies that can be used by students is a compensatory, non-compensatory, or combination both of them (mix) strategy.
