Abstract

The present study aims to investigate the implementation of character education in Mathematic by using discovery learning. This study is intended to develop values of students’ national character. The present study investigates only several national characters from the overall eighteen national characters. The national characters are intended to be developed through mathematic by using discovery learning. The implementation of discovery learning on mathematic learning is relevant with 21st century learning paradigm recently which underlines the general characteristics of humanistic mathematic (as human activity). This implementation, in other words, also leads to the development of character values. The development of these character values, as aforementioned, is modified to the materials, indicators, and learning objectives. This study can be inferred that the realization of the character values development enables teachers to choose the learning methods which are in line with the 21st century learning paradigm. Furthermore, it should be modified to fit with either the subject and character values.
